Elk Township Police Department

Elk Township was founded in 1891 and originally settled as 22 square miles of farmland with very few residents. Through the years, small clusters of housing developments have made their way into the community raising the census to 4200 residents.  The Township is large with a sense of small-town pride. The Township has plans for growth and development and could potentially double the number of residents over the next few years.

The Police Department currently has thirteen full time Officers and one Class II Special Officer. The Chief of Police and Command Staff take pride in making sure that the Rank and File of the Department have the best equipment and are properly trained in all aspects of police work.  Chief Gonnelli has made it his mission to enhance community policing within the Township. Officers can be assigned as Patrol Units, Detectives, ATV Units and Bicycle Units all with the same goal of providing a service and meeting the needs of the Community.

The Police Department wants to continue to serve the public with a diverse staff that is well rounded in all aspects of police work.  Those seeking employment with the Elk Township Police Department should be honest, motivated, and be willing to give a 100% to the community we serve.
